D3, AGX GRAPHIX JOIN FORCES TO RESHAPE
OUTDOOR ADVERTISING LANDSCAPE

Category leaders in digital display signage and outdoor billboard market form alliance, AGX Digital, to ratchet up "look" and branding opportunities for out-of-home scene

NEW YORK – D3 LED, a display company disrupting traditional branding by providing one-of-a-kind technology and design solutions for its customers, today announced a partnership with Action Graphix, an Arkansas-based manufacturer of motion signs. The two companies have formed a joint venture to manufacture, sell and service digital signs for the outdoor billboard market under the name AGX Digital. The partnership of these two companies sets in motion a transformation of how marketers will be able to interact with consumers in the out-of-home space.

D3, based in Rancho Cordova, Calif. and North Bergen, N.J., brings an expertise in designing and building complex, vivid LED displays, such as the ABC Ribbon Sign and M&M World Sign in Times Square. More than half of the displays that grace the world famous Times Square were produced or worked on by the members of D3 during their careers. AGX Graphix has 17 years in the outdoor billboard business and has installed more than 5,000 motion signs across the United States and in 21 countries on six continents. It has extensive experience building tri-vision signs which rotate to show three different faces. Tri-vision signs are highly in demand because the movement within the displays is eye-catching for consumers and the rotation is cost-effective for the advertisers. Combining these core capabilities will enable AGX Digital to replicate the theatrics and drama of the elaborate Times Square displays seamlessly and precisely, while bringing them to a broader audience nationwide.

The outdoor market comprises 450,000 billboards in the United States. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (oaaa.org), advertisers spent $7.3 billion on outdoor advertising in 2007, up seven percent from 2006.

“Action Graphix is a great partner for us because of the company’s depth of knowledge in the outdoor signage market, strong foothold in that space and attractive manufacturing operations with plenty of room for expansion,” said Jason Barak, founding partner, D3. “It really allows for us to deliver superior, trend-setting solutions for our customers and capitalize on the fact that outdoor advertising is becoming more relevant for today’s marketers. It’s a form of advertising that simply can’t be ignored.”

“Action Graphix proudly joins with D3 LED in forming AGX Digital,” said Blant Hurt, owner, Action Graphix. "D3’s state-of-the-art technology combined with our growing prevalence in the billboard business will allow us to become a digital tsunami that sweeps across the outdoor advertising market."

D3 and Action Graphix have established a 100,000-sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Jonesboro, Ark. that will be dedicated to the mass production of the digital billboards. As a large manufacturing and engineering hub, Jonesboro supplies the facility with a highly skilled workforce and a central location enabling easy access to surrounding cities and clients. Action Graphix will spearhead the sales, oversee the final assembly of the signs, and provide service and support. The signs will feature D3’s TrueElement technology and SmartModule Design – a lightweight, self-contained module that features its own power supply, fan and data connection.

“The Jonesboro facility represents a significant landmark for D3 LED,” Barak said. “Not only does it boast top-notch talent and a prime location to meet the needs of customers across the U.S., but it also embodies D3’s lean manufacturing initiative. We are committed to eliminating waste in the production process by making our assembly repeatable, scalable and consistent.”

Among the benefits that AGX Digital can bring to customers are displays that:

• Are easy to install: AGX displays are lightweight and designed to attach to billboard stringers. The signs are engineered for any installation suited to a customer’s specific needs.
• Are simple to service: The modules have front or rear access (depending on the structure), and wiring design makes it easy to remove or install modules.
• Require less power: Specifically developed power converters reduce both wasted heat loss in the driver chips and also total power consumption, meaning fewer power supply failures and less power to cool the display.
• Employ easy-to-use diagnostics: Constantly monitor every detail of the sign down to the temperature of the individual modules. These diagnostics detect any variances that would affect the health and operation of the sign.
• Accommodate any solution: The open architecture of AGX Billboards provides the flexibility to accommodate a wide range of solutions depending upon customer needs. Options range from the company’s proprietary AGX Player to comprehensive non-proprietary players like those used in broadcast.
